What little girl wouldn’t love a plastic canvas dollhouse? Handcrafted with love, a plastic canvas dollhouse is sure to become a treasured family heirloom, passed from mother to daughter.
A few years ago, I came across a plastic canvas dollhouse book in a craft store and immediately had to buy it. (In fact, it’s the book pictured above.) I have been working on it on and off for awhile now and have great hopes of finishing it before my girls are too old to enjoy it!
Plastic Canvas Dollhouses are available in 2 sizes. You can typically find patterns to make a plastic canvas dollhouse in either 1:12 or 1:6 scales.
1:12 is what is traditionally thought of as dollhouse scale. A 1:6 scale plastic canvas dollhouse will work with fashion dolls, like Barbie.
No matter what size you choose, a plastic canvas dollhouse is a labor of love and is sure to be appreciated by that special little girl in your life.
Plastic Canvas Dollhouse Kit
If you love the convenience of craft kits that have all the materials you need to finish a project, then a plastic canvas dollhouse kit may be just what you need. Mary Maxim has released two adorable plastic canvas dollhouse kits for you to make for that special little girl in your life.
The Plastic Canvas Summer Cottage Dollhouse is so bright and cheerful. Don’t you just love the pretty yellow color? This dollhouse kit contains all the materials you need to create the house. The finished size is 19″ x 10″ x 14″. The little window boxes full of flowers are what really sold me on this kit.
The other Mary Maxim kit is for a fun log cabin doll house. With a lovely front porch and a stone fireplace, I just love the details on this dollhouse. So homey and inviting! This kit contains all materials needed to make the house.
In addition Mary Maxim has also released an accessory kit to make the finished log cabin even more real. This kit contains enough supplies to make a fire pit, an outhouse, a picnic table, and 3 adirondack style chairs. How fun is that?
All three kits include the plastic canvas dollhouse pattern, 7-mesh plastic canvas, acrylic yarn, decorating trim, and a needle.
